Could’ve had Spencer Rattler? Reactions to Jayden Daniels’ transfer plan

The Arizona State Sun Devils could see another member of last year’s program ship off for new waters with the reports coming out Thursday of quarterback Jayden Daniels expecting to enter the transfer portal.
If Daniels does in fact depart, sophomore Trenton Bourguet and Alabama transfer Paul Tyson are among the suitors for the starting job. Incoming freshman Bennett Meredith as well as returnees Finn Collins and Daylin McLemore are also expected to return.
The report comes as a bit of surprise, especially after head coach Herm Edwards met with both the signal caller and his mother following last season. It seemed ASU and Daniels were on the same page as the Sun Devils elected against pursuing Valley native and quarterback Spencer Rattler, who was interested in returning to the desert, per SunDevilSource.com.
Instead, Edwards and ASU put its trust in Daniels while Rattler took his talents to South Carolina, leading some to question the move back then.
So after news broke of Daniels’ change of heart, one of the main talking points across ASU Twitter on Thursday was that of the former Pinnacle High School quarterback in Rattler and what could have been, among other things:

If itâs true that the decision was made to back Jayden Daniels and tell Spencer Rattler thanks but no thanks, thatâll be an interesting âwhat ifâ for the rest of time. @JUSTCHILLY

I hope we can stop and take a little time to appreciate how funny it is that ASU told spencer rattler to kick rocks because they were riding with jayden daniels, only to have jayden daniels hit the transfer portal weeks later

A produced video on 12/2, announcing a return for year 4. Enters the transfer portal on 2/17. Does Jayden Daniels know something about ASU footballâs immediate future?
