The Barbarian is headed back to the desert.
The Arizona Cardinals and outside linebacker Dennis Gardeck have agreed to a three-year, $12 million deal, his agent told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday. Additionally, the Cardinals announced the re-signing of reserve defensive tackle Michael Dogbe.
Gardeck, used as more of a special teamer and depth piece on defense this past season, recorded 23 tackles, four QB hits and a forced fumble over 14 games in 2021.
But when filling in for an injured Chandler Jones in 2020, Gardeck showed off his pass-rushing ability, racking up seven sacks and seven tackles for loss over the final 10 games of his season before suffering a torn ACL in Week 14.
Gardeck, a special teams captain, was originally signed by the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Sioux Falls in 2018.
With Gardeck back in the fold, the Cardinals now have Markus Golden, Devon Kennard and Victor Dimukeje as the team’s group of outside linebackers under contract through next season.
Dogbe appeared in 24% of the defensive snaps last season. The seventh-round pick out of Temple in 2019 appeared in every game and amassed 27 tackles with one sack and 5.5 stuffs.
