The Arizona Cardinals are meeting with free agent cornerback Jeff Gladney on Tuesday night, according to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson.
Gladney, 25, was the 31st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. During the offseason following his rookie season, Gladney was arrested in April of 2021 after allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend.
He was charged with domestic violence by impeding breathing after allegedly “intentionally, knowingly and recklessly” causing bodily injury and applying pressure to the woman’s neck and throat.
The altercation grew out of an argument and took place over a span of more than two hours, according to a lawsuit the woman filed last year against Gladney. She also alleged in the suit that he tried to bribe her and intimidate her into keeping quiet.
He was indicted, which led to the Vikings releasing Gladney in August.
On Thursday, Gladney was found not guilty on a felony assault charge.
In 16 games over the course of his rookie season, Gladney had 83 total tackles, three passes defensed and one forced fumble.
Arizona has a hole to fill at corner with veteran Robert Alford in free agency. Byron Murphy and second-year defensive back Marco Wilson make up the other two primary spots at the position.
