Suns PG Chris Paul listed as probable, reportedly will play vs. Nuggets

Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul is probable for Thursday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets as he continues to work his way back from a right thumb injury, and Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes reports Paul will play.

In the last game before the All-Star break, Paul suffered a right thumb avulsion fracture. Before Paul made a brief appearance during the All-Star game, TNT’s Allie LaForce reported the team would re-evaluate Paul’s injury in six to eight weeks.

That made April 3 the earliest he could return to action.

Paul, however, moved up that timeline. He was seen shooting in practices last week and went through a pregame working before the team’s game at Sacramento on Sunday.

Paul made his 12th All-Star game and is averaging 14.9 points, 10.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per outing.

Despite losing their floor general, the Suns have stayed atop the Western Conference standings, posting a 11-4 mark since Paul went down.

Point-guard duties have largely rested on the shoulders of Cameron Payne, Devin Booker and Aaron Holiday. With Paul back, the Suns are better equipped to chase a franchise record for wins in a regular season.

The Suns have won 62 games twice, in 1992-93 and 2004-05.
