Chiefs trade WR Tyreek Hill to Dolphins for 5 picks, per reports

The Kansas City Chiefs are trading wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for five draft picks, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Dolphins are also giving Hill a four-year, $120 million extension with $72.2 million guaranteed, Schefter adds.

The Chiefs are getting back a first-, a second- and a fourth-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft and will also receive a fourth-rounder and sixth-rounder in the 2023 draft, per Schefter.

The trade comes soon after Rapoport reported that extension talks had stalled between Hill and the Chiefs and Kansas City had granted the wide receiver permission to seek a trade.

The Dolphins and the New York Jets were the two teams vying for Hill, per Schefter.

Hill joins the Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams and the Denver Broncos’ Russell Wilson as one of the most recent big names headed elsewhere via trade this offseason.

The wide receiver is coming off a 1,239-yard, nine-touchdown effort in 2021, reeling in a career-high 111 catches (third among NFL pass catchers).

Only twice in his six-year career has the six-time Pro Bowler not topped at least 1,100 yards in a single season.

Over the past five seasons, Hill has caught 26 receiving touchdowns on passes thrown at least 20 yards downfield, 10 more than Mike Evans (16), who is second in the category, per ESPN Stats & Info.

He now joins a Dolphins team led by first-year head coach Mike McDaniel that has stayed busy this offseason in revamping its roster.

Outside of Hill, the Dolphins offense features wide receivers Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson and DeVante Parker, running backs Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert, Terron Armstead and tight end Mike Gesicki.
