LISTEN: Derrick Hall - D-backs president and CEO

If there’s one place pretty much every team in baseball can improve in, it’s the bullpen.

Fortunately for the Arizona Diamondbacks, they can probably help.

As the July 31 trade deadline gets closer and closer, activity is likely to increase, with the D-backs probably ready to move some pieces.

According to team president and CEO Derrick Hall, that may mean reshaping the ‘pen.

“Our bullpen is so strong right now, even with the young pitchers and (other teams) know that, they know we have a lot of veterans as well,” Hall told Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Thursday. “I think teams that are having difficulties with their bullpen, they’re going be looking at us.

“A lot of teams are wanting to come to us and look for bullpen and relief help, and I think we’re going to be very active in that category within the next five days.”

Prime targets would appear to be right-hander Brad Ziegler, who is sporting a 2.84 ERA, and left-hander Oliver Perez, who has a 1.91 ERA.

The D-backs already parted with one member of their bullpen, dealing Joe Thatcher to the Los Angeles Angels earlier this month. In that deal, which also saw Arizona give up outfielder Tony Campana, Arizona received minor league prospects Zach Borenstein and Joey Krehbiel.
