Devin Booker went off for a season-high in points in the first quarter against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.
His first quarter scoring barrage kept the Phoenix Suns within striking distance of Philadelphia as the Suns trailed at the break, 39-37.
Booker finished off the quarter with a free throw for his 22nd point, draining all three of his 3-point attempts and finishing 8-for-14 from the field at the half.
MVP candidate Joel Embiid kept pace with Booker pouring in 19 by halftime on 7-for-12 shooting, leading the 76ers to a four-point edge.
Booker was held off the scoreboard for the Suns in the second quarter.
The Suns are sitting two wins away from tying a franchise record for wins in a season with eight regular season games remaining on the schedule.
Booker will look to make a statement in the second half as he strives to make a late push into the NBA MVP conversation against one of the odds-on favorites in Embiid.
