The Arizona Diamondbacks announced a pair of roster moves on Saturday.
Left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert and right-hander Taylor Widener have been optioned down to Triple-A Reno.
Arizona now has 37 players in spring camp including players on the injured list.
Gilbert, 28, made his MLB debut last year with the D-backs, pitching in nine games, six of which were starts.
And in the very first start of his big league career, Gilbert tossed a five-strikeout, three-walk no-hitter en route to a 7-0 Diamondbacks’ victory over the San Diego Padres at Chase Field.
It also marked the first career win for the lefty.
He finished last year with a 2-2 record to go along with a 3.15 ERA, 25 punchouts, 13 walks and 1.025 WHIP across 40 innings pitched.
Widener, 27, made his MLB debut with Arizona in 2020 and is coming off of a 2021 season in which he threw a career-high 70.1 innings for manager Torey Lovullo.
In 23 appearances (13 starts), the right-hander picked up a 2-1 record while striking out 73 with a 9.3 SO/9 rate.
