You can say this for the 2014 Arizona Diamondbacks: they’re creative.

On Wednesday, the D-backs were upended by the Washington Nationals via a run-of-the-mill walk-off hit.

On Thursday, they were on the losing end of another walk-off, but this time via a throwing error in the ninth inning that broke a scoreless tie.

With the loss, the Diamondbacks wrapped up their road trip with a 2-8 record; they head home to take on the San Diego Padres at 6:40 p.m. on Friday.

Here’s a look at how the Diamondbacks fell on Thursday, by the numbers:

1

The D-backs committed just one error, but it decided the game, as third baseman Jordan Pacheco’s errant throw to first base allowed the Nationals’ Anthony Rendon to score from second with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.

3

Arizona first baseman Mark Trumbo was caught stealing for the third time this season. He has successfully stolen a base just twice in 2014.

6

The Diamondbacks matched their longest losing streak of the season with their six consecutive defeat. Four of those losses came by just one run.

10

The D-backs were shut out for the 10th time this season.

11

The top of the Diamondbacks’ batting order — Ender Inciarte, Cliff Pennington and David Peralta — went a combined 0-for-11 from the plate.

14

D-backs starting pitcher Wade Miley didn’t yield a run despite allowing 14 baserunners (eight hits and six walks). Miley threw 114 pitches in 6 2/3 innings.
