The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to make moves among pitchers in the organization on Tuesday, recalling right-handed pitcher Edwin Uceta from the taxi squad.
In a corresponding move, the team optioned reliever Matt Peacock to Triple-A Reno, but he will remain with the taxi squad in Washington as part of a doubleheader with the Nationals.
Peacock pitched in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader, recording two outs in the eighth inning with a strikeout and a walk.
As for Uceta, the D-backs claimed the righty off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers in October last season. He did not pitch for Arizona in 2021, but made 14 appearances for the Dodgers sporting a 0-3 record with a 6.64 ERA.
In 20.1 innings of work last season, Uceta struck out 25 batters while walking 12.
Prior to Tuesday’s appearance against the Nationals, Peacock played in one other game for the D-backs this season.
In two innings of work against the New York Mets on Sunday, Peacock allowed two earned runs.
First pitch in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader with the D-backs and Nationals is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. Catch all the action on ESPN 620 AM or 98.7 FM HD-2.
