Former Iowa State offensive tackle Joey Ramos is transferring to Arizona State, he announced Monday on Twitter.

Ramos is a Metro Phoenix native and played high school ball at Deer Valley in Glendale. He spent four seasons at Iowa State, redshirting in 2018 before finding a special teams role in 2019.

The following season, he started five games on offense and was a part of a unit that allowed the fewest sacks in the Big 12.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pounds lineman played 13 games last year, though most prominently on special teams, and has two years of eligibility remaining. He picked ASU over his other announced top choices of Bowling Green and Tulsa.

He was a consensus three-star recruit out of high school and No. 7 prospect in Arizona, according to 247Sports.

He will add more experience to an ASU offensive line room going through several personnel changes.

ASU has had four offensive linemen transfers commit this offseason, one defined largely by key losses to the NFL Draft and transfer portal.

Left tackle Kellen Diesch, center Dohnovan West and right guard Henry Hattis have played their final snaps as Sun Devils, as most of the 2022 offensive line will be made of new starters.

Twelve transfers have committed this offseason in total, including former Auburn wide receiver Ro Torrence on Saturday.
