The Phoenix Suns remain favored to move past the first round starting with a Game 5 victory on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans at home.
Phoenix dropped a disheartening Game 4 on the road Sunday night 118-103 which evened the series at two games apiece, yet sportsbooks are not jumping off the No. 1 seed’s boat just yet.
The Suns are seven-point favorites in Game 5 at Footprint Center with -110 odds to cover on FanDuel Sportsbook.
They are 2-2 against the spread, as they were favored to win each of the first four games against New Orleans. The odds for Phoenix’s moneyline are -290.
The Pelicans have -110 odds to cover, while their moneyline odds sit at +235.
Suns All-Star guard Devin Booker was ruled out for Game 5 on Monday with a hamstring strain. He exited Game 2 during the third quarter of an eventual loss for Phoenix at home, and the two sides split a pair of games in New Orleans with Booker sidelined.
Without Booker, Suns center Deandre Ayton has been their lead scorer with 28 points in Game 3 and 23 on Sunday.
He has the best odds for first basket at +370.
The over/under for points is at 215, lower than the output in each of the past three games.
The Suns are 1.5-game favorites in the series, and therefore are projected to take the next two contests. They have +160 odds to accomplish this.
They entered the playoffs as favorites to win the NBA Finals, but Booker’s injury and the team’s struggles against the No. 8 seed Pelicans knocked the Suns back to third on the totem pole at +500 odds to win a title.
The Golden State Warriors have the best odds at +290, while the Boston Celtics are second at +450. Boston swept the Brooklyn Nets to punch the first ticket to the second round.
Game 5 between the Suns and Pelicans begins at 7 p.m. You can tune in on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
