The Arizona Cardinals re-signed cornerback Antonio Hamilton to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
The terms of the new contract were not disclosed.
Additionally, the team was awarded its waiver claim on former Houston Texans linebacker Ron’Dell Carter.
Hamilton, 29, returns to the franchise after recording a career high in tackles with 38 to go along with four passes defensed over 17 games played (two starts) in 2021. He was originally a member of the practice squad before getting elevated to the active roster.
The six-year veteran got his NFL start with the then-Oakland Raiders as an undrafted rookie free agent out of South Carolina State in 2016.
He spent two seasons (12 games) with Oakland before joining the New York Giants for the next two years. In 2020, he headed to the Kansas City Chiefs before landing with Arizona in 2021.
Hamilton rejoins a cornerbacks room that features Byron Murphy Jr., Marco Wilson, Jeff Gladney, Jace Whittaker, Breon Borders and Nate Brooks.
Carter heads back to the Valley after spending the majority of the season on the Cardinals practice squad. He eventually signed with the Texans active roster on Dec. 21. He played one game for Houston.
The linebacker originally entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020. After beginning the year on Dallas’ practice squad, Carter was signed to the Indianapolis Colts’ active roster in September 2020 before being waived months later.
He was claimed by the Cowboys in November 2020 and was eventually waived last August before joining the Cardinals.
