The Arizona Diamondbacks announced a plethora of roster moves on Friday before their game in St. Louis against the Cardinals.

The team recalled LHP Caleb Smith and selected RHP Keynan Middleton from Triple-A Reno while optioning LHP Tyler Holton to Reno. Holton will stay on team in the taxi squad.

The team also placed RHP Mark Melancon on the injured list.

Smith has had a rocky start to his D-backs career. In 45 games in 2021, Smith post a 4.83 ERA in 113.2 innings pitched.

In two appearances in 2022, Smith has given up nine runs in four innings.

Melancon was acquired in the offseason as additional back-end bullpen arm.

He has posted a 1.13 ERA in eight appearances but has an 0-2 record.

Middleton was signed this offseason to a minor league deal after playing in the majors for five years with the L.A. Angles and Seattle Mariners.

Holton was called up on Thursday before the first game of the series in St. Louis. He pitched one inning of shutout ball while giving up two hits on Thursday.

The D-backs look to win game two of the series against the Cardinals.
