Former Arizona State cornerback Chase Lucas is headed to Detroit as the Lions selected him with the No. 237 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft on Saturday.
The corner has the second-most starts in ASU history with 49 over five seasons and earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors twice.
The Chandler native caught six interceptions with 34 pass defenses and 223 total tackles with the Sun Devils. He was a team captain this past season and the only ASU player to ever go 5-0 against the rival Arizona Wildcats.

At 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, Lucas was projected to land in the sixth or seventh round by NFL Network draft analyst Lance Zierlein.
Slender boundary corner with an enormous amount of football snaps in his background. Lucas plays in off coverages, which is likely for the best considering his lack of strength and long speed. He typically trusts his eyes and has the traits to make plays on the football.
Lucas ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine in March.
He joins a Lions team that won three games last year and has a young cornerback corps.
Lucas is the fourth Sun Devil selected after running back Raachad White went in the third round while cornerback Jack Jones and defensive lineman D.J. Davidson were picked in the fourth.
