Arizona Cardinals re-sign S Charles Washington to 1-year deal

May 2, 2022, 11:21 AM

The Arizona Cardinals re-signed safety Charles Washington to a one-year contract on Monday.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, per team policy.

The 5-foot-10, 192-pound safety returns to the team for a fourth season after being used mainly as a special teams piece over seven games last year.

He finished 2021 with three tackles and saw 61% of the available special teams snaps (122).

Since his arrival to the desert in 2019, Washington has recorded 22 tackles, a pass defensed and a forced fumble over 34 games played.

Washington entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Detroit Lions out of Fresno State back in 2016.

Across two seasons with the Lions (29 games), Washington recorded 20 tackles. He signed on with Arizona off of waivers in 2019.

Washington adds another body to the safeties room that also includes Budda Baker, Jalen Thompson, Deionte Thompson, James Wiggins and Javon Hagan.
