Just when the offseason looked to be getting back on track.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was hit with a six-game suspension for violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy on Monday, the NFL announced.
Hopkins missing a third of the season puts even more pressure on head coach Kliff Kingsbury to deliver on his word to evolve his game plan around other wide receivers in an effort to avoid a collapse of last year’s proportions when Hopkins was sidelined.
How will Arizona get by without Hopkins leading the way? And is there any sort of silver lining to the suspension?
Cardinals reporter Tyler Drake and Erik Ruby try to make heads and tails of the situation.
Then, the pair takes a quick look back at the Cardinals’ 2022 NFL Draft haul.
On top of adding a group of new rookies to the mix, including second-round tight end Trey McBride and a third-round pass-rushing duo of Cameron Thomas and Myjai Sanders, the Cardinals also went out and swung a trade with the Baltimore Ravens for wide receiver Marquise Brown.
Who were some of the names that stood out, especially in the later round? And which rookie has the potential to earn playing time sooner rather than later?
Drake and Ruby unpack all that and more on the latest episode of Cardinals Corner, an Arizona Sports podcast.
