D-backs’ Zac Gallen gets win on, off the field vs. Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm

The Arizona Diamondbacks in 2019 traded one of their top five prospects in Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the Marlins when they acquired Zac Gallen but fans got to see them both in action in Miami on Monday.
Gallen had entered the matchup as one of the hottest pitchers in the league, boasting a 0.60 ERA through three games. Chisholm might be playing equally as well, batting .313 to go along with 19 RBIs and four home runs.
As for their first matchup against one another, Game 1 goes to Gallen.
Arizona’s ace dominated the performance, holding the Miami shortstop to an 0-for-3 day while breaking two of his bats.
Gallen was asked if there was any thought about Chisholm’s comments last year about wanting to hit a home run off him.
“I think he broke two bats. So he will have to go back to the ‘clubbies’ to get some new bats,” Gallen told Bally Sports Arizona after the game. “I kind of had a feeling his approach was to try and take me deep so I used that to my advantage.
“I knew he was going to swing early and look for a fastball, so, I gave him 97 and said, ‘Here, see what you can do with it,’ not much.”
Last season, Jazz Chisholm said he really wanted to take Zac Gallen deep.
They finally squared off yesterday, as Chisholm went 0-3 & broke two bats.
Gallen responded: "I'm not scared of anybody … I gave him 97 and said, 'here, see what you can do with it.' Not much." pic.twitter.com/EwhCkxOC1C
