The former fifth-ranked dual-threat quarterback out of high school spent the last four seasons at Florida.
Jones is coming off of a 2021 campaign in which he threw for 2,734 yards and 19 touchdowns on 64.7% passing while throwing 13 interceptions.
He also led the team with 759 rushing yards on 143 attempts to go along with four scores en route to a 6-7 season for the Gators.
Jones also marks the sixth quarterback on the roster behind Alabama transfer Paul Tyson, redshirt sophomore Daylin McLemore, redshirt junior Trenton Bourguet, redshirt freshman Finn Collins and true freshman Bennett Meredith.
The former Florida signal caller is by far the most experienced quarterback among the six.
The Athletic’s Doug Haller reports that Jones has an agreement in place with Jones Auto Centers, as well as “marketing opportunities in place to earn up to $75,000.”
Arizona State opens the 2022 season at Sun Devil Stadium against Northern Arizona on Sept. 1.
