The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated infielder Josh Rojas and right-handed pitcher Mark Melancon on Friday, the team announced.
In corresponding moves, Arizona designated infielder Sergio Alcantara for assignment and optioned righty Corbin Martin to Triple-A Reno.
Rojas joins the D-backs after missing the team’s first 26 games of the season with an oblique strain.
In his last rehab start with the Aces, Rojas manned the hot corner which is where he will make his season debut on Friday night.
He will bat fifth in the D-backs lineup.
Rojas had a breakout season in 2021, where he hit .264 with 11 homers and 44 RBIs.
Melancon returns to the D-backs bullpen after a week-long stint on the injured list.
The reliever has appeared in eight games for Arizona sporting a 1.13 ERA, but does have a 0-2 record.
As for Alcantara, the infielder struggled to start the season with a .189 batting average in 53 plate appearances. He did drive in seven runs and scored six.
Martin heads down to Reno after throwing 14.1 innings for the D-backs with a 4.40 ERA.
The D-backs begin a three-game series against the Rockies starting on Friday at 6:40 p.m. Catch all the action on ESPN 620 AM or 98.7 FM HD-2.
