The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly signed former Virginia cornerback Nick Grant to a deal after rookie mini-camp, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Grant played in five seasons at Virginia but only played in six games over his first two years.
In his last three seasons, Grant totaled 130 tackles, 20 passes defensed, three interceptions including one for a touchdown, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Grant led the ACC with nine passes defensed in 2021 and was second with two forced fumbles.
A defensive back was and still is a need for the Cardinals. The room currently consists of Byron Murphy Jr., Marco Wilson, Jeff Gladney, Antonio Hamilton, Christian Matthew, Breon Borders, Jace Whittaker and Nate Brooks.
Outside of Murphy and Wilson, no other players have experienced consistent playing time in the Arizona red.
Gladney was a former first-round pick out of TCU by the Minnesota Vikings.
Matthew was a 25-year-old, seventh-round draft pick out of Valdosta State, while Hamilton, Borders and Whittaker have all spent time with the organization. Brooks spent one season with the Miami Dolphins in 2019.
