The Arizona Cardinals signed three of their 2022 NFL Draft picks on Tuesday, the team announced.
Second-round tight end Trey McBride (No. 55 overall) out of Colorado State, seventh-round cornerback Christian Matthew from Valdosta State (No. 244 overall) and seventh-round offensive lineman Marquis Hayes out of Oklahoma (No. 257 overall) were all signed to four-year contracts.
McBride, who stands at 6-foot-4, 246 pounds, was the John Mackey Award winner in 2021 for the nation’s top tight end following a 90-catch, 1,121-yard season — the fifth-most TE yards in FBS history.
The 22-year-old rookie was a two-time All-American and three-time All-Mountain West Conference selection and accumulated 164 receptions for 2,100 yards and 10 touchdowns in his 40-game career at Colorado State.
Matthew, who turns 26 years old in October, played in a total of 42 collegiate games with Georgia Southern (2016), Samford (2018-19) and Valdosta State (2021).
In that span, he garnered 85 tackles, two interceptions, 22 passes defensed, 0.5 sacks and one blocked kick.
Hayes, a 6-foot-5, 318-pound offensive lineman was a three-year starter at Oklahoma having started 37 of the 40 games he played in.
He earned second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2021 after starting all 13 games as a guard to help the Sooners offense score 62 total touchdowns and average 451.5 yards per game.
Hayes also started 11 games and only allowed two sacks on 416 pass plays, per Pro Football Focus.
