Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said after Monday’s 9-5 win over the Kansas City Royals that first base coach Dave McKay is out due to COVID-19.

“He’ll be out for the next several days,” Lovullo said.

The ballclub announced prior to the game that Luis Urueta was taking the spot at first base in place of McKay.

McKay, 72, has been on the D-backs’ staff since 2014.

After playing in MLB from 1975-82, McKay started his time as a coach in the majors with the Oakland Athletics in 1984 and spent over a decade with them before joining the St. Louis Cardinals in 1996 for 15 years.

He coached for two seasons with the Chicago Cubs following his departure from St. Louis in 2011 and then landed in Arizona for the 2014 season.

McKay has won three World Series championships as a coach, one in Oakland and another two with the Cardinals.
