For the 14th season in a row, the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chase Field have been named with the most affordable gameday experience in MLB.
Team Marketing Report’s Fan Cost Index (FCI) for 2022 put the D-backs well ahead of the competition as average general ticket prices in the sport have risen $0.94, to $35.93, from last year.
Arizona’s average ticket sits at $22.12, best in the majors.
The annual report of FCI looks at pricing for a family of four to attend a game. It adds beer, soft drinks, a hot dog, souvenir hats and parking to the ticket prices.
The MLB average FCI for 2022 sits at $256.41 and saw a 1.9% jump after there was a 4.5% decline in cost from 2020-21.
Holding the title as most affordable since 2009, the Diamondbacks’ FCI registers this year at $152.30, nearly $34 below the next-most-affordable team, the Miami Marlins.
To compare, the Boston Red Sox have the most expensive FCI at $385.37.
Here is how Team Marketing Report compiles the Fan Cost Index each year.
Since 1991, TMR staff have annually compiled each MLB team’s FCI® for a look at the cost for a family of four to attend a ballgame in person, using the price of four weighted average non-premium tickets combined with the lowest ballpark pricing for four sodas, four hot dogs, two beers and two souvenirs (hats), along with a nearby parking spot.
