Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov will not reach restricted free agency this offseason after he agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old appeared in three games each of the past two years, allowing a 4.19 goals against average in 52:30 minutes on ice.
“We are very pleased to sign Ivan to a contract extension,” Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said in a team release. “He is a big, athletic goaltender who is very talented. We look forward to continuing to watch him develop.”
The 114th overall pick in 2018 spent most of this past season with the Tucson Roadrunners. He went 15-22-5 with a 3.66 goals against average and .880 save percentage in 45 games in the AHL.
The Coyotes have to build their depth in the net after they mainly leaned on 25-year-old goaltender Karel Vejmelka this season. He played in 52 games and finished with a .898 save percentage and 3.68 goals against average.
Arizona also got contributions from veteran Scott Wedgewood (26 games) in the front half of the season, as well as Harri Sateri (six games), Carter Hutton (three games) and Josef Korenar (two games).
