Spring practices are in the rearview mirror and roster shuffling has relatively settled. College football teams have a good grasp of what they’re working with heading into the fall.

Oddsmakers have rolled out updated win total rankings in the past few weeks.

For the Arizona State Sun Devils, the over/under on total regular-season wins sits at 5.5 at FanDuel and BetOnline. It’s 6.5 at PointsBet.

That’s unsurprising with ASU ranking 93rd in the country having lost 57% of its production last season, according to ESPN’s Bill Connelly.

The Arizona Wildcats, meanwhile, have a win total of 2.5 across the board.

The nonconference schedule differences between the two teams has a lot to do with that void.

For the Sun Devils, the big challenge comes in the second game at the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who went 12-2 last season. That’s sandwiched between an opener against Northern Arizona (5-6 last season) and Eastern Michigan (7-6 last season) in Week 3.

Arizona will face a usually competitive San Diego State squad to open the year, then host Mississippi State and then FCS powerhouse North Dakota State in Week 3.

SDSU romped over the Wildcats last year, 38-14, in Week 2 and went 12-2 by the end of the season.

The Bulldogs went 7-6 with a 4-4 mark in the SEC, while the Bison have lost 10 whole games under their last two head coaches, dating back to 2014. The Wildcats lost 11 games in 2021 alone.
