Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Corbin Carroll has produced one of the most dynamic offensive seasons in the minor leagues to this point in the year.

His 12 home runs are tied for 11th in all levels of MiLB, while he also has 13 stolen bags and an OPS of 1.152.

MLB Pipeline released an update on its prospect rankings this week, and Carroll jumped up from No. 19 to No. 13. He leapfrogged Alek Thomas for the best D-backs prospect on the list.

D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall called Carroll, “probably the best player in our system right now,” on a call with Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta on Thursday.

Pipeline lists the 21-year-old’s ETA at 2023, but Hall believes the D-backs could get contributions from him even sooner.

“I hate to put a timetable on a guy, but I would say I would not be surprised if he’s up this year, and I would hope so,” Hall said. “This guy may end up being the number one prospect in all of baseball. I hate to put pressure on him, but he doesn’t really feel the pressure.

“He’s unbelievable. This guy is such a talent and he continues to deliver coming off the injury.”

Carroll played only seven games last season in High-A due to a shoulder surgery. He previously did not get a minor-league season in 2020 due to COVID-19 after Arizona selected him No. 16 overall in 2019.

Hall complimented Carroll’s ability to brush off the adversity and dominate this season.

Shortstop Jordan Lawlar, Arizona’s 2021 first-round pick, similarly bounced back from shoulder surgery and has produced. Lawlar is batting .352 with seven long balls in 33 games with Single-A Visalia.

“They came right back and didn’t miss a beat,” Hall said. “So, I’m really excited about guys like that to come up and join (Josh) Rojas and (Daulton) Varsho and Pavin Smith, Alek Thomas, (Jake) McCarthy. They’re all performing and they’re all making an impact each and every night.

“Our fans are excited about that. They want to cheer for the homegrown guys, and I hope they’re watching them and following their numbers right now and their advancement because they’re gonna be here soon. And hopefully for a long time.”
