The Phoenix Suns and superstar Devin Booker have agreed to a projected four-year, $214 million supermax contract extension, the team announced Wednesday.

“Devin has had a truly special impact on our organization, our fanbase and the Valley community since he first arrived in Phoenix,” Suns managing partner Robert Sarver said in a statement. “We are grateful for all his contributions and we are thrilled to ensure that he will remain in a Phoenix Suns uniform into the future.”

Booker saw his name on the All-NBA First Team at the guard position alongside Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic this season, marking him eligible for the supermax extension.

The 25-year-old Booker has two years remaining on his 2018 rookie max extension. With the extension, he’s under contract with Phoenix through the 2027-28 season. That is the next six seasons.

For his best season with Phoenix in 2021-22, Booker averaged 26.8 points per game on 46.6% shooting, 5.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.1 steals. He finished fourth in the MVP voting.

“The love from this city has been there from the beginning,” Booker said in a statement. “I’m honored and humbled to call this place HOME.”

Booker is one of three players to average at least 25 points in each of the past four seasons, with the other two being the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo and Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James.

Booker has made three consecutive All-Star teams, helped bring the team to its first NBA Finals since 1993 and was a key part of Phoenix this past season having the best record in the NBA.

During Booker’s first year in the league during the 2015-16 season, the team finished 23-59 and won 64 games combined the following three years.

With the length on his contract now, Booker has a chance of taking the No. 1 spot in the franchise leaderboards across several key categories. He is sixth in points (11,217), ninth in assists (2,228) and minutes played (16,072), plus second in 3-point field goals (978).

For that all-time points total, one held by Walter Davis at 15,666 points, Booker holding his pace the last four seasons of at least 1,700 points a year could have him catch Davis midway through the 2024-25 season.
