There were a few close calls in the at-bat with the Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. before Gallen eventually walked him.
It is unsure what was said between Gallen and Libka, but the umpire seemed to walk toward the mound before catcher Jose Herrera stepped in the middle of the two.
Lovullo rushed on to the field and before he even entered the frame of the camera was tossed by Libka.
The D-backs also had another incident earlier with an umpire when pitcher Madison Bumgarner was ejected playing the Miami Marlins. The umpire intensely examined Bumgarner’s hand, more than the average substance check.
Lovullo seemed to be upset with the way Libka started to walk toward Gallen.
Both Gallen and Herrera stayed in the ball game. Gallen pitched 5.2 innings and gave up two earned runs and seven hits.
The D-backs lead the Braves 6-2. Catch the rest of the action on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
