Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Josh Rojas was mic’d up for the team’s May 15 game against the Chicago Cubs and the infielder was anything but boring.

Right from the game’s start, Rojas made a critical mistake in the field. No sunflower seeds and no gum, that’s a no-no for anyone on the diamond.

With the D-backs facing a one-run deficit before their first at-bat, they needed a spark to get back into things.

That spark was provided by a leadoff triple by Cooper Hummel, which was greatly appreciated by Rojas.

“Just like that baby, we’re back,” he exclaimed. “Ball has eyes.”

Upon his first time at the plate, Rojas noticed some fans with a “We’re here to see Josh Rojas” sign.

Later on in the game, it appeared the infielder finally came across some sunflower seeds, which got Rojas thinking about his seed consumption.

“Wonder how many seeds I eat in a day,” Rojas asked himself. “A million.”

With the D-backs making a pitching change, Rojas used the time in-between to ask teammate Ketel Marte about what shoes he plans on rocking for the team’s upcoming road trip.

In his last trip to the plate, the D-backs third baseman made good contact but ultimately resulted in an out. Chatting with the third base umpire afterward, Rojas said he caught it just off the top of his bat.

“Little tiny bit off the end,” he said. “And the tough part is, I was debating if I should choke up or not going into that bat and I choked up.”

Rojas finished the game 0-for-2 with a walk as the D-backs fell to the Cubs 3-2.
