Arizona Diamondbacks outfield prospect Corbin Carroll continues to capture national attention for his start to the minor league season.

Baseball America released its updated top 100 list of prospects this week, and Carroll skyrocketed from No. 17 to No. 4.

The 21-year-old is the second-youngest player among the top seven, only older than Detroit Tigers outfielder and No. 2 prospect Riley Greene. Only Greene, Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman and pitcher Grayson Rodriguez are ranked higher.

Carroll has an OPS of 1.044 on .300/.420/.624 splits this season for Double-A Amarillo. He also has 13 home runs after hitting one Saturday and 17 stolen bases.

The lefty with plus speed and hitting tools has primarily played centerfield this season with appearances in the corners and at designated hitter.

MLB Pipeline had him ranked No. 19 before the season after a shoulder injury held him to seven games last year. He is now No. 13 on that list.

The Seattle native has an MLB ETA of 2023, per Pipeline, although D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall told Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta earlier this season he would not be surprised if Carroll makes his debut in 2022.

The D-backs have already received production from their preseason top prospect on Pipeline, outfielder Alek Thomas. Thomas entered Saturday with five home runs and an OPS of .813 in 24 games as an everyday starter.

The way Carroll is playing, the duo could take their spots at Chase Field sooner rather than later.
