The Pac-12 announced that the Arizona Wildcats will serve as hosts for the inaugural Pac-12 Softball Championship.
The 2023 tournament will take place at Hillenbrand Stadium in Tucson from May 10-13.
Seeding will be based on the conference standings at the end of the regular season, with the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds meeting in a play-in game to determine the rest of the eight-team field.
The remaining eight schools will then play single-elimination games over the next three days.
The second day will have the quarterfinal round, the third day will be the semifinals and the final day will be the conference championship.
The winner of the Pac-12 Softball Championship will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Pac-12 baseball had a trial run with its first conference postseason tournament this past season, which got exceptional reviews.
The inaugural Pac-12 Baseball Tournament took place this past May 25-29 at Scottsdale Stadium.
The one difference between the two tournaments is that baseball is double-elimination as opposed to single-elimination for softball.
