Watch: D-backs’ Jordan Luplow hustles for an inside-the-park home run
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jordan Luplow dove across home plate for an inside-the-park home run Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres.
Luplow shot a first-pitch sinker on a line to center field against southpaw Sean Manaea during the third inning at Petco Park.
Padres outfielder Trent Grisham sprinted in and inadvisably laid out, as the ball bounced ahead of his glove and skipped over him.

The baseball rolled all the way to the wall and it was hit too hard for either Padres corner outfielder to back Grisham up.
D-backs shortstop Geraldo Perdomo scored with ease from first base while Luplow raced around the diamond.
Grisham got the ball in to second baseman Jake Cronenworth who turned to relay the ball home with Luplow halfway down the third-base line. Cronenworth’s throw sailed up the line and over the head of catcher Jorge Alfaro, allowing Luplow to dive in without a play.

The shot was Luplow’s 10th home run of the season after he hit two against the Minnesota Twins on Friday.
Ten of Luplow’s 18 hits this season, his first with the D-backs, are home runs. He is second on the team in long balls behind first baseman Christian Walker despite playing in 42 of 70 games.
