The Arizona Diamondbacks will once again be without outfielder David Peralta when they take on the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon.

The outfielder was a late scratch from the starting lineup due to back tightness, the team announced.

Taking over his spot in the lineup is Jordan Luplow, who recorded an in-the-park home run in Tuesday night’s extra-inning loss to the Padres. The shot was Luplow’s 10th home run of the season after he hit two against the Minnesota Twins on Friday.

It marks the third consecutive game Peralta has missed due to the back issue, all against San Diego.

Entering the series against the Padres, Peralta had played in 61 of the D-backs’ 68 games. He left a game on June 6 against the Cincinnati Reds with back spasms after diving but returned to action the following day.

Peralta is averaging .234 and slugging .433 to go along with 47 hits, 27 RBIs and 20 walks over 61 games (224 plate appearances).

Prospect Buddy Kennedy, who made his MLB debut on Friday, was another Arizona player dealing with an injury issue in San Diego. During Tuesday’s game, Kennedy experienced some wrist discomfort and eventually exited the contest.

Over five games played (17 plate appearances), the rookie is averaging .188 and slugging .500 to go along with three hits (including a grand slam), four RBIs and a walk.

The D-backs are back in action against the Padres at 1:10 p.m. Tune to ESPN 620 AM and 98.7 FM HD-2.
