Multiple times this offseason, Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim has referenced a certain timeline of when he will negotiate a contract extension for quarterback Kyler Murray.
Much like other teams who have handed out extensions to third-year QBs, Arizona has bided its time, letting the bulk of free agency, the 2022 NFL Draft, organized team activities and minicamp pass with no pen to paper.
“It’s no different for us,” Keim told reporters back in April. “It’s just sort of the way the system works, but nothing has changed in terms of him being our long-term and short-term quarterback.”
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t see a new deal until July. Buffalo Bills signal caller Josh Allen had to wait until August before inking an extension.
When will a contract extension get done between QB Kyler Murray and the #AZCardinals?

When is it Murray’s time? And how important is it to get a deal done before training camp, something head coach Kliff Kingsbury is “praying for?”
On the June 27 edition of the Cardinals Corner podcast, Arizona Sports’ Cardinals reporter Tyler Drake and afternoon contributor Erik Ruby give their predictions on when a new deal might drop and their reasoning behind them.
They then react to Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins’ first in-person comments following his PED suspension and his explanation behind the six-game sentence.
Lastly, Drake and Ruby go head-to-head in a draft of Arizona’s top fantasy-football prospects for the upcoming season.
The rules are simple: It’s a five-round draft and only position players (pass catchers and running backs) are on the board.
Is James Conner the No. 1 fantasy option on the roster this season? And just how much of an impact does Hopkins’ suspension put on his draft stock?
Drake and Ruby break it all down on Cardinals Corner, an Arizona Sports podcast.
