Free agent defensive lineman Corey Peters was a late addition to the Arizona Cardinals last season.
After rehabbing his way back from a torn patellar tendon in 2020, Peters re-signed with the team amid training camp.
And with the Cardinals’ current roster construction, Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed believes bringing back Peters is a move that Arizona should make once more in 2022.
Peters is biding his time in free agency before he decides on his next destination. That could include a return to the Cardinals, who ranked 27th in Ben Linsey’s defensive line rankings.
Peters played the last six seasons with the Cardinals after spending five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons from 2010-14.
During his time in the Valley, Peters racked up eight sacks, two forced fumbles and 102 solo tackles in 81 games played.
Defensive lineman Rashard Lawrence will be entering his third season with the Cardinals and will likely see more playing time on the interior DL after putting up 11 tackles in seven starts last season.
Leki Fotu is another third-year defensive lineman that could see regular playing time for the Cardinals after registering 19 tackles, one forced fumble and two tackles for loss last year.
Rookie defensive linemen Cameron Thomas and Myjai Sanders will also both be in the fold for reps on the D-line.
Last but not least, the Cardinals will be getting three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt back as he makes his return from several injuries.
