The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled rookie outfielder Cooper Hummel and optioned first baseman Pavin Smith to Triple-A Reno, the team announced Saturday afternoon.
Hummel started the year with the big-league club and drilled his first career home run during the fourth game of the season.
He hit a walk-off double on May 31 in the 10th inning against the Atlanta Braves to complete a four-run comeback.
The D-backs optioned him to Triple-A on June 11 after his slash line in 41 MLB games was .178/.308/.317.
Hummel hit .346 with a pair of home runs in 14 contests on the Aces before the recall.

Smith heads to Reno for the first time in his career. The 2017 first-rounder made his MLB debut in 2020 and has not played in the minors since.
The lefty’s numbers are down this year from his first two MLB seasons with a slash line of .207/.291/.362. His career OPS entering 2022 was .733.
Smith got off to a strong start before he started to struggle in the second week of May. After May 6, he is hitting .171.
