Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Corbin Carroll was revealed as one of the first four members named to the National League roster for the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game.
The All-Star Futures Game will be played on Saturday, July 16, at 4 p.m. MST.
The third-ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, Carroll has spent this entire season thus far with the Double-A Amarillo Sod Poodles.
The 21-year-old is slashing .313/.430/.643 in 58 games.
Carroll has 16 home runs, 39 RBIs and 41 walks to 68 strikeouts.
Carroll was the No. 16 overall pick in the 2019 draft. After the outfielder’s debut season in the lower ranks, he sat out 2020 due to the pandemic canceling minor-league ball, then spent 2021 with Single-A Hillsboro Hops. Due to a shoulder injury, he only played in a handful of games.
Now, Carroll is showing out.
As the Diamondbacks hit the midway point of their 2022 season, it appears he remains a few steps from making a major-league debut.
“The good thing for us is we have some impact players in the outfield that need to play every day, and Corbin still has some development that he needs to continue to focus on,” Diamondbacks assistant general manager Amiel Sawdaye told Wolf & Luke in June.
“But I think we take it step by step. The next step for Corbin will be when he goes to Triple-A and then we’ll see what he does there.”
