Back up the Brink’s truck. Kyler Murray just got paid.

Murray and the Arizona Cardinals put pen to paper early Thursday morning, inking a five-year contract extension worth $230.5 million.

The new deal locks up the signal caller through 2028 and moves him into the top-five echelon of current QB contracts. The timing couldn’t be any better, either, with Cardinals rookies and quarterbacks reporting to camp Thursday before the rest of Arizona’s veterans report Tuesday.

In the latest episode of Cardinals Corner, an Arizona Sports podcast, Cardinals reporter Tyler Drake and 98.7 FM afternoon contributor Erik Ruby break down Murray’s extension and dive into what it means for the franchise in the now and down the road.

Did Arizona overpay for Murray’s services or was the deal right in line with how the 2019 No. 1 overall pick has played since his arrival to the desert?

On top of Murray’s new deal, Drake and Ruby also touch on starting center Rodney Hudson’s expected return to the team after missing voluntary OTAs and turning in an unexcused absence at mandatory minicamp.

While there might not be any clarity as to the exact reason(s) why Hudson was not in attendance for the offseason work, the center’s plan is yet another positive for the Cardinals as players begin showing up in the desert for training camp.
