Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi test who knows each other the best

Jul 23, 2022, 8:28 AM | Updated: 9:01 am

Former college teammates and WNBA legends Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi are as competitive as they come, even when trying to determine who knows who best.

Taurasi and Bird did a sit-down video that was put together by TOGETHXR ahead of their final regular season match on Friday with Bird set to retire after the season.

Bird has a certain celebrity crush that may surprise some people.

When Bird asked Taurasi who Bird’s celebrity crush was, Taurasi didn’t hesitate one bit with her response.

“Oh, Mike Bibby,” Taurasi said confidently.

“The not buff Mike Bibby, UofA Mike Bibby. He was on my wall in college,” Bird said. “Also on my phone.”

The two legends then asked one another one foe they hated to be guarded by.

“Briann January is pretty annoying,” Bird said. “She’s really tough to go against.”

“She’s even annoying in practice,” Taurasi added.

January, the former Arizona State Sun Devil, spent 2018-19 with Taurasi and this season with Bird, giving them both a tough time on the defensive end of practices.

Bird and Taurasi faced each other for final time on the court Friday, with the Phoenix Mercury beating the Seattle Storm 94-78.

Taurasi got the best of her long-time friend, dropping 28 points in the victory.

It wasn’t Bird’s best night on the hardwood, scoring just two points and adding five assists, but she did get some sweet new kicks courtesy of Taurasi.

To put a bow on their final contest together, Taurasi and Bird did a joint press conference, something you will hardly see between two fierce competitors at the highest level.
