ASU, Arizona place special teamers on Preseason All-Pac-12 1st Team

The Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Wildcats each placed a player on the Preseason All-Pac-12 First Team for the 2022 football season.

ASU return man D.J. Taylor and Arizona punter Kyle Ostendorp were among the special teamers making the first team.

Additionally, the Sun Devils saw offensive lineman LaDarius Henderson and linebacker Merlin Robertson make All-Pac-12 Second Team.

The Wildcats placed receiver Jacob Cowing and defensive lineman Kyon Barrs on the second team.

Among the first team members, Taylor took 25 kick returns for 525 yards (21 yards per return) 14 punts at an average of 13.6 yards.

Ostendorp ranked fourth in the nation with an average punting distance of 49.2 yards to lead the Pac-12.

Honorable mentions between the Arizona schools included Arizona State running back Xazavian Valladay and linebacker Kyle Soelle, plus UA defensive back Christian Roland-Wallace.

The voting process for the preseason list was done by media members and released Tuesday ahead of Pac-12 Football Media Day on Friday.
