On the inaugural episode of State of the Sun Devils — an Arizona Sports podcast — hosts Jesse Morrison, Jeremy Schnell and ASU reporter Jake Anderson discuss the future of the Pac-12 Conference given USC and UCLA’s intention to leave for the Big Ten in 2024.
The trio also breaks down what they anticipate Arizona State’s offense will look like under new offensive coordinator Glenn Thomas, including debating who will be under center for Herm Edwards and Co. come Week 1 against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Sept. 1 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.
Emory Jones? Paul Tyson? Trenton Bourguet?
The last week of July featured media day for not only the entire Pac-12 Conference on Friday — with USC and UCLA scheduled to speak last — but also for ASU’s returning players on Monday.
With the overwhelming theme being to “buy in” and “reestablishing a culture” in the Arizona State football locker room, fifth-year senior captain and linebacker Kyle Soelle said at Sun Devils media day that “anything I’m a part of will be more than five wins.”
Graduate student defensive lineman Travez Moore — who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 3 against BYU last season — is also seeking double-digit sacks to prove doubters wrong this season.
