Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merrill Kelly was named National League Player of the Week on Monday.

In 15 innings pitched last week, Kelly was masterful as he gave up six hits and two walks while striking out 15 batters and allowing no runs.

The veteran was superb the entire month of July as he sported a 1.31 ERA in six starts.

Kelly on the season is 10-5 with a 2.87 ERA in 21 games started.

Kelly’s 2.78 ERA ranks 19th in the MLB and 11th among National League starting pitchers.

The 33-year-old was drafted in the eighth round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft out of Arizona State.

Kelly made his major league debut in April of 2019 with the D-backs.

Over the course of his career, Kelly is 33-32 with a 3.92 ERA, including 421 strikeouts.

This season Kelly leads the Diamondbacks’ starting pitchers in ERA, wins, innings pitched and strikeouts.
