D-backs recorded 19 hits in their 15-4 win over the Marlins on Memorial Day. That’s just a hit shy of the franchise record for a 9 inning game.
The D-backs are 15-2 in their last 17 games…that stretch also ties a franchise mark. Last June 1st Arizona was 20-33 and 11 1/2 games out of 1st place. They have now won 7 straight, 13 of their last 14 and 15 of their last 17.
This was also the opener of a 7-game home stand…they finished their road trip 6-1. With the win the D-backs stayed 1/2 game ahead of the Giants in the NL West.
Kelly Johnson homered twice and fell just a single shy of the cycle. With the double and triple…he tied the franchise record with 4 extra base hits. He’s batting .429 in his last 8 games. He’s the 2nd player in the Majors this season to have 4 extra base hits in a game. He hit solo HRs in the 3rd and 6th, doubled in the 4th and tripled in the 7th.
Justin Upton tied his career best by going 5 for 5…including a 2-run homer into Friday’s Front Row Grill.
Miguel Montero matched his career high with 5 RBI’s…including a 3-run homer.
Starter Joe Saunders (2-5) got his 2nd straight win after opeing the season 0-5.
