Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Kyler Murray is one of the most dynamic players in the NFL with his ability to run and pass the ball.
Fantasy football players know that Murray is one of the highest valued players, but Pro Football Focus’ Dwain McFarland ranked him as the No. 2 fantasy QB for 2022.
McFarland ranked Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen as the only QB with more value than the Cardinals’ signal caller, but they were the only two in the “1A” category. He gave his rankings of the QBs and showed their average draft position in each league.
Hopkins battled injuries all of 2021 before shutting things down early. If he returns to his 2020 form, this could be a lethal aerial assault, and the Cardinals’ schedule is loaded with shootout potential.
Murray is one of only a handful of quarterbacks with the upside to take on 20% to 25% of his team’s rushing volume. The former No. 1 overall selection already has an 822-yard rushing season (2020) — meaning a 4,500-yard passing and 750-yard rushing season is in his range of outcomes.
McFarland pointed to Murray’s uptick in each year of his career in passing yards per game, PFF passing grade, adjusted completion percentage, yards per attempt and touchdowns per attempt.
Although, Murray will be without top target DeAndre Hopkins as he serves a six-game suspension, potentially affecting Murray’s fantasy value.
Murray finished with the 10th most points for quarterbacks in 2021 but missed three games in the season.
His 22.18 points per game average put him at fourth for QBs in the league.
