Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Kingsley Keke has been placed in COVID-19 protocols, head coach Kliff Kingbury said at practice Saturday.
Keke, who signed with Arizona back in May, spent the last three seasons with the Green Bay Packers where he started eight games in the 2021 season.
“He’s actually in the COVID-protocol right now, so he’s missing time right now,” Kingsbury said Saturday when asked about the defensive tackle. “He had played some good football in Green Bay and hopefully we can get him back soon and see what he’s got for us.”
Kingsbury added that Keke is the only Cardinals’ player in protocols, with quarterback Kyler Murray returning to the practice field Saturday.
Murray had tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and was required to miss five days of practice.
“We’re going to get him loosened up,” Kingsbury said of his signal caller. ” If he does anything, it’ll be minimal football-wise.”
As for Keke, he registered 2.5 sacks to go with 10 tackles and a forced fumble last season.
He joins the mix in a defensive tackle room that features Leki Fotu, Rashard Lawrence, undrafted rookie Manny Jones and newly-signed veterans Antwaun Woods and Christian Ringo.
