The latest episode of “Cardinals Flight Plan” released on Wednesday before the Arizona Cardinals’ preseason debut and profiled a few of the biggest stories in the last few weeks.

The top one, of course, is quarterback Kyler Murray signing a new five-year extension worth up to $230.5 million and Murray literally signing the contract alongside owner Michael Bidwill was part of the episode.

As you would expect with a contract like that, several signatures were required from both, so the two made conversation about the journey they’ve been on as Bidwill signed a document before sliding it over to Murray.

It is rather amusing to know that somewhere in there is Murray’s study clause, one that Arizona Sports’  John Gambadoro reported was something Bidwill was insistent on. The team removed the clause from the contract three days after it created lots of backlash toward both the Cardinals and Murray once it became public.

Murray inked his last signature and then looked around as if it was finally settling in that the process was complete, one that was eventful.

“Done?” Murray asked before Bidwill informed him it was indeed official.

General manager Steve Keim commented on extending Murray and offensive tackle D.J. Humphries during some highlights from training camp.

A segment on Murray’s study clause came next, headlined by Murray’s impromptu press conference that took place shortly before the team got rid of the clause.

The episode then focused on the director of fields Andy Levy, the man in charge of the grass the Cardinals play on. Levy discussed how his process of maintaining the field works during training camp.

The running back room concluded the episode.

Footage of James Conner signing his new contract extension was shown, including Conner discussing how he has approached his time in Arizona thus far.

Then, it was two guys competing for snaps behind him in Jonathan Ward and Eno Benjamin that had a bit of their stories told by themselves. Ward looked back on his catch from a fake punt last season while Benjamin evaluated his own progress as a player and his truck stick touchdown run in San Francisco.

Footage from a press conference for free agent signing Darell Williams wrapped up the four biggest names at the position and the episode.
