Coyotes Ekman-Larsson an All-Star
GLENDALE, Ariz.- The National Hockey League announced Tuesday that Phoenix Coyotes rookie defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been selected to participate in the 2011 All-Star Weekend.
The 6-foot-2, 190 pound Sweedish born Ekman-Larsson has collected seven assists and 15 penalty minutes in 26 games this season with the Coyotes.
The American Hockey League also announced Tuesday that Coyotes minor league defenseman Garrett Stafford and right wing Brett MacLean have been selected to the Western Conference AHL All-Start team.
Stafford, 30, is the AHL’s top defensemen this season. He has 30 points (9 goals, 21 assists) in 34 games with the Coyotes AHL affiliate the San Antonio Rampage.
MacLean, 22, leads San Antonio in scoring, goals and power-play goals. His 36 points are the eighth most in the league and is ranked second in shots (163).
The NHL All-Star Weekend is scheduled for January 28-30 with the AHL game scheduled for January 31.
