GLENDALE — The start of Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Hollywood Brown’s tenure in the desert hasn’t come without its moments.

After starting training camp on the non-football injury list, the wide receiver appeared on track to start ramping things up the following week.

His activation from the NFI on Aug. 2 said as much.

But when the team took the field the following day, Brown was not among his teammates for reasons not associated with an injury.

Brown was arrested for excessive speeding that morning heading southbound on Loop 101 and driving in an HOV lane, according to DPS spokesman Bart Graves. The wideout was traveling 126 miles per hour.

It’s certainly not what Brown envisioned would happen in his short time in the Valley and it’s definitely not what the team had hoped for after turning heads with a draft-day trade to acquire the WR’s services.

Speaking Wednesday for the first time since the incident occurred, Brown greatly regrets his actions.

“Just learn from it,” Brown said. “I’m not a guy to get in trouble so I just put it in my past and make sure I’m always doing the right things at all times.”

“It was very disappointing,” he added. “I got a lot of kids that look up to me so I want to set the right example at all times.”

Brown didn’t dive too far into the reasoning behind the excessive speed but did confirm that he was not running late to practice.

The wide receiver’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 23, the same day the team travels to Tennessee.
