The Arizona Cardinals released linebacker Jessie Lemonier, the team announced on Wednesday.

Lemonier was claimed by the Cardinals off waivers in May. He played seven games with the Detroit Lions last season and recorded 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

The 2020 undrafted rookie free agent from Liberty recorded 135 tackles, 20.5 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in two years in college.

He appeared in six games with the Los Angeles Chargers as a rookie and just seven with the Lions.

Arizona began preseason play on Aug. 12 with a 36-23 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Cardinals will face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday and then take in their final game on Aug. 27 in Tennessee against the Titans before the real deal starts on Sept. 11 when they host the Kansas City Chiefs.
